St Mary’s
Church at Pinchbeck has a healthy choral tradition. The ten-member robed choir
rehearses weekly and sings on a regular basis on Sundays and other occasions,
including weddings.
Music plays
a very important part in setting a spiritual and celebratory atmosphere for
worship. The choir rehearses weekly and sings at the 10.30am service three
Sundays a month, at Evensong (monthly) as well as at other services and
concerts.
Our
Organist and Choirmaster is John Bland MA who has considerable musical
experience. He can be contacted on 01775 719 123 for more information about the
adult or junior choirs.
Choir
practice is on Wednesday evenings in the church or at school (winter months)
commencing at 5.45pm (junior choir) and 6.45pm (adult choir).
The junior
choir is an important part of the ministry at St Mary’s. Rehearsing weekly and
singing to accompany All Age Worship once a month, members of the junior choir
(aged from 8 years to 13 years) are drawn from the upper years of our Church
School at Pinchbeck as well as from local secondary schools.
The
children enjoy a short rehearsal including some instruction on reading music
and vocal technique and also often share some fun time including squash and
biscuits. Parents are welcome to stay for the rehearsal or to leave the
children in our care for the period of the rehearsal. Rehearsals are Wednesday
evenings during term time at 5.45pm either in the church or, during the winter
months, at school.
New members
are always welcome. Please contact our Organist and Choirmaster, John Bland on
01775 719 123 for more information. John and his assistant, Anne Lloyd, are
both experienced and gifted in working with children and both hold a current
CRB check.
