St Bartholomew's West
Pinchbeck.htm
St Mary’s welcomes everyone, people from the village and
visitors, as we seek to continue the Christian witness of generations in this
parish. We have joined with the
parishes of St Bartholomew, West Pinchbeck and St Laurence, Surfleet to form
The Glen Group.

The Glen Group is situated just to the north of Spalding,
the administrative centre for the South Holland region of South Lincolnshire,
an area of agriculture and horticulture in the Fenland, particularly noted for
its production of vegetables and flowers.

St Mary’s Church is a fine Medieval building which is still
prominent in the landscape. It has a
wide and uncluttered nave based around mid 12th century arches, and
topped with a very fine 15th century single hammer beam roof
supported by large gilded angels, which carry the heraldic escutcheons of the
Pinchbeck family. The chancel is a good
example of the work of the Victorian restorer, Herbert Butterfield. St Bartholomew, West Pinchbeck, was built as
a mission church to the remoter parts of the parish by the Rev West Wayet, the
vicar in 1850.
One of the highlights of the year is the annual Flower Festival, held on the first weekend in May and running in conjunction with the Spalding Flower Parade. The fine medieval church is fully decorated with floral displays and welcomes many visitors from near and far. Catering facilities are open to the public.
