Baptism IN THE GLEN GROUP

A Very Special Journey

Baptism is also known as Christening. When we are Baptized we become members of the Church and begin an important new step in our journey of faith.

A hint of the meaning of Christian baptism can be found in the story of John the Baptist - here depicted in the stained glass of the East Window of Pinchbeck St Mary.

John saw Baptism as a symbolic washing away of sin - a way of signalling our intention to turn away from our past wrongs in the hope that we might be forgiven by God and begin to live with greater attention to his claim on our lives.

In fact, Christian baptism is far more than this. You can read about it here.

Who is eligible?

We are pleased to arrange Baptism for anyone living within the Glen Group. You can check whether you live in one of our Parishes by entering your postcode into the Church of England's `church finder' here.

Baptism in the Glen Group may also be possible, with your own Vicar's permission, if you live elsewhere.

Booking arrangements

These depend on the candidate's age:

What does it cost?

There is no charge for a Baptism service.

However, families often choose to show their support by making a donation through the collection plate, at the end of the service. This helps to fund the provision of ministry generally, and is greatly appreciated.

If you wish to donate, and you are a UK tax payer, please remember to ask us for a Gift Aid envelope. This will enable us to increase the impact of your gift at no extra .cost to you.
